Keido Labs

Clinical psychology spent 150 years understanding human emotions.
AI development spent zero.

We started Keido Labs because we believe this is the most important gap in AI today.

AI systems are becoming the primary interface between organizations and people. Therapy. Coaching. Companionship. Crisis support. Education. Customer care.

And these systems process language brilliantly — but understand human emotional needs not at all.

The problem isn't computational. It's psychological.
And nobody in AI has the clinical expertise to solve it.
Keido Labs does.

The Field We're Creating
AI Psychology

AI Psychology is the disciplined application of clinical psychological science to understand, measure, and develop emotional intelligence in artificial systems.

This is not sentiment analysis - that measures positive and negative words, missing everything that matters in a real conversation.

This is not AI ethics - that's philosophical discussion, not engineering.

This is not safety-through-compliance - that's checkbox theater.

AI Psychology is a new applied science. Rigorous. Measurable. Engineering-backed. Clinically grounded. Built on the same frameworks used to train and supervise human therapists - applied to AI systems that now have those same conversations.

The Moonshot

From monitoring to genuine emotional intelligence

Our mission is AI that doesn't simulate empathy but develops genuine emotional reasoning as an architectural property.

The inspiration comes from Isaac Asimov. His Three Laws of Robotics weren't rules enforced on robots from outside. They were structural properties of the positronic brain itself. R. Daneel Olivaw didn't follow empathy protocols - he reasoned his way to understanding.

We're building toward that future in three layers:

Layer 1

The Shield

Detect when AI conversations become psychologically unsafe. Real-time monitoring using clinical frameworks. Every conversation assessed. Every risk surfaced.

Layer 2

The Teacher

Move from observation to intervention. AI systems that don't just get scored - they get supervised. Mid-conversation course correction. Psychological guardrails that understand context, not just keywords.

Layer 3

The Breakthrough

Understand the mechanisms of emotional reasoning in AI at the architectural level. Using mechanistic interpretability to map how empathy works inside language models - and how to build AI where emotional intelligence is a property of the architecture, not a constraint applied to it.

Founding Team

Dr. Michael Keeman

Dr. Michael Keeman

Founder & CEO

Michael is a clinical psychologist, researcher and AI engineer.

He spent 15 years in psychology and AI systems - publishing 50+ papers, leading national-level research programs, and building AI systems for elite sports and crisis healthcare. At 29, he became Chief Science Officer at a National Research Center of Sports Medicine, directing innovation strategy for Olympic sports performance and crisis response systems.

When the stakes are 'this person's health depends on this,' you learn to build systems that don't fail.

The transition from therapy to AI wasn't random. It was the realization that everything learned about how humans process emotion, communicate under stress, and build trust could be encoded into measurable, interpretable systems that serve for good.

That realization became Keido Labs.

Anastasia Keeman, MD

Director of Communications

Anastasia is a medical doctor and biotechnology researcher who discovered that the gap between breakthrough science and real-world impact is communication.

With a background in stem cell research, scientific conference management, and translating complex research for diverse audiences, she ensures Keido Labs' work is both rigorous and accessible.

She bridges the gap between the lab's clinical depth and the world that needs to understand it.

Why Now

AI conversations are causing real psychological harm - and the frequency is accelerating.

Character.ai was sued after a teenager's death. ChatGPT incidents hit headlines monthly. AI therapy and companion products are growing fast, with zero psychological safety infrastructure.

The companies building these products usually started because they wanted to help people. They need someone who understands the psychology - not just the technology - to help them get it right.

That's why Keido Labs exists.

Where We Are

Keido Labs is based in Liverpool, UK. The location is where we do our research. Our work is global.

We work with AI companies that care about the psychological impact of their products on users. Wherever they are.
